Sausage rice recipe

Sausage rice recipe (For 5-6 persons)

500g of Basmati rice (Long grain)

500g of cut vegetables (refer photo step 5)

1.5L-2L of water

1 sachet of 10 sausages of your choice

3 cloves of garlic

2 large onions

Salt and pepper to season

1 box of Meefoon soup seasoning (refer photo step 6)

4 tablespoons of olive oil

2 tablespoons of sugar

4-5 drops of yellow and orange food coloring


Procedure

Step 1: Wash your rice well (until the water becomes clear) and reserve in your colander. In the meantime, allow your water to boil. Only once it boils, add your washed rice and allow to cook for 10-12 minutes on Low-Medium heat.

Step 2: Once your rice is cooked (opaque white and soft), transfer to a colander and allow excess water to flow out.

Step 3: Then quickly spread your cooked rice on a large piece of Aluminum foil. This is to ensure that your rice stops cooking and that it will remain "grainy" rather than "sticked" rice.

Step 4: To your pan and on medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of Olive oil, your chopped onions, chopped garlic, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 2 pinches of salt and 1 pinch of pepper. As soon as your onions are cooked (turns translucent), add your sausages that you have cut in thin diagonals.

Step 5: When your sausages have caramelized (golden brown/caramel color), add your vegetables !

Step 6: Add also 1 tabespoon of sugar, 2 tablespoons of Olive oil and half of the box of your Meefoon soup seasoning to your vegetables and allow to cook on high heat for 4 minutes while stirring from time to time.. In the meantime, add drops of orange and yellow food coloring on your now cool rice as well as the remaining half of the box of your Meefoon soup seasoning (spread evenly over your rice) and tease using a fork. At the end your rice should be seasoned and be of 3 colors, that are white, yellow and orange !

Step 7: Get your rice and veggies/sausage preparation together !...

Step 8: Combine both together and voila !...
