The rose looks really nice..did you use any cutter for shaping the petals? I believe it goes from smaller petals to bigger ones as you move outside...is it correct? Any tips? Ive tried doing it once..and it didnt look really nice

Hi Aneesha ! Thank you for your comment. For this making-of I did not use any cutter because I find it easier and more flexible to model with the fingers (Marzipan Almond paste is really easy to work with). Moreover remember that a rose is really not symmetric or regular in and using a cutter might really create a sort of symmetry or smooth pattern that may make it appear less realistic. You are very right concerning smaller petals to larger petals while going outwards. Start with a bulb (which can be in Marzipan itself), add one petal, then in one motion (either CW or CCW) another petal near it while leaving half petal overlapping with the previous and continue until the perimeter is filled (1st cycle closed). Then proceed same way (next layer) while going outwards but with a slightly larger petal. To make it more realistic you should really play with the petals to make it appear like real ones that is a bit scattered, at times broken, pinch the borders with your fingers to make it thinner while pushing in an outwards direction to make it appear as if it will nearly open (you may also use a toothpick).. It might take time but it does really worth it. This is what I call enjoying life ...
